How to create a new project in Google Cloud Lab.

Step 1 

Log in to the Cloud Lab with your AccessID and password, and click Create new project.  

Step 2 

You will be taken to a new screen. Use the information below to fill out the required areas and then click Submit. 

  • User: AccessID (will auto-fill). 
  • Template: Click on Default to open the drop-down menu and choose Default, Data Playground, or Cloud Storage. 
    • Default: Creates a sandbox project ideal for general usage  
    • Data Playground: Creates a data experimentation project with a dedicated VPC, a BigQuery dataset, a Cloud Storage bucket, and a Jupyter Notebook hosted on Vertex AI Workbench  
    • Cloud Storage: Creates a project with a dedicated Cloud Storage bucket.  
  • Compliance regime: Click None to open the drop-down menu and choose None, CJIS, HIPAA, or FedRAMP Moderate (choose for FERPA). 
  • Project name 
    • Three character minimum 
    • Nine character maximum 
    • Lowercase letters only 
    • May include numerals, hyphens 
  • Usage budget: Check the box to accept the Terms of Service.

Step 3 

You will be redirected to a submission confirmation page that will display the unique URL for your project as well as the project status (provisioning will be what you first see as the status).
