Guest IDs provide temporary access to Wayne State University systems and services for non-WSU personnel who need to support academic or administrative activities.
Guest IDs are available to employees not paid by the university, employees in the University Physicians Group, short-term contractors, conference attendees, and other select guests.

- Academica
- VPN
How to get a Guest ID
Sponsors must follow the instructions in the Guest ID request form. Typical response time is within two business days, assuming the sponsor has approved the request (if applicable).
Sponsors can also request bulk guest AccessIDs. Before you submit this request, please upload your information in this template and save it as a CSV file.
Once a Guest ID is issued, system access may be requested.

Who can request a Guest ID?
Only full-time, paid Wayne State employees may submit a request.
Can I request a Guest ID for myself?
A full-time Wayne State employee must submit the form on your behalf.
How long is a Guest ID valid?
Guest IDs are valid for one year from the date of creation, unless the business manager who requested it states otherwise.
Will I be notified before a Guest ID expires?
Yes. Both the guest and the requester will receive a notification 30 days before the expiration date. One month before the Guest ID is set to expire, C&IT will email an expiration notice to both the guest and the sponsoring dean/vice president or designee.
What happens if I don't renew a Guest ID?
If the ID is not renewed before the expiration date, it will be automatically disabled.
Can a Guest ID be used to access Wayne State systems?
Yes. A Guest ID may allow access to Wayne State email, Academica and VPN, depending on the request and approval.
What do I need to include in the request?
When submitting a Guest ID request, include the guest’s name, email address, reason for access, requested systems or services, and the length of time access is needed.
Do Guest IDs require renewal?
For continuous access, the Guest IDs require a yearly renewal; Guest and Requester are notified a month prior to the expiration date.
