Wayne State cannot guarantee the security of or provide support for external email accounts and does not recommend forwarding Wayne State email addresses to service providers outside of the university environment (Google, Apple, etc.). Wayne State has invested in a top-tier email system through Microsoft Outlook and provides students, faculty, and staff accounts with ample cloud storage space.

Security concerns
C&IT cannot support compromised external accounts and is limited in the ways we can respond to phishing emails sent from compromised external accounts.
Support
C&IT works to the best of their ability to resolve delivery problems with external email providers, but these situations often take several days to resolve and are not guaranteed.
Delivery
Message delivery to external email providers cannot be guaranteed, and these systems are outside of university control. Bounce back notification policy is set by each email provider, and senders may not receive notice that their message was not delivered to you. Important emails originating from Wayne State may be delayed or not delivered to forwarding addresses.
User responsibility
Users are responsible for reading, responding to, and otherwise managing their Wayne State email account related to learning and working in a timely fashion regardless of forwarding.
How to forward Wayne State email
Follow the steps below on how to forward your email.
Step 1
Log in to Academica with your AccessID and password. Click the person icon in the top right-hand menu and then click Account Management.

Step 2
Click Mail Forwarding under the Email header in the Account Managment menu on the left-hand side.

Step 3
Follow the on-screen instructions.
