How to access the research shared drive or R: drive (Windows and Mac)

On a university-managed PC computer:

Step 1 

Log in to your computer with your AccessID and password. 

Step 2 

Open the File Explorer. 

Step 3 

Click the carrot next to This PC to open the drop-down menu. Left-click on Research.

On an unmanaged computer 

Step 1 

Open the File Explorer. 

Step 2 

Right-click on This PC and then left-click on Map network drive.  

Step 3 

A pop-up menu will be displayed—choose R:

Step 4 

Enter \\ad.wayne.edu\research in the Folder text entry field. Check the boxes for Reconnect at sign-in and Connect using different credentials. Click Finish.

Step 5 

You will be prompted to enter your network credentials. Use your AccessID as your username and log in with your password.

Step 6 

Click OK. The R: drive and your shared folder(s) will display.

On a Mac computer:

Step 1

Make sure you're either on-campus or connected to the WSU VPN.

Step 2

From your Mac desktop, click on the Mac OSX finder icon in the dock. 

Step 3

Open the Go menu from the top and then click on Connect to Server...

Step 4

In the server address field, type in: smb://ad.wayne.edu/research. Click Connect.

You will be prompt to enter your name and password; use your WSU AccessID and corresponding password and then click Connect.

The Research drive will populate.
